My window mod involved putting up a cool hanging and welcome sign. Price? Three nails, one thumb, and several colorful words that would make my mom cringe, if she were around to hear them—probably my dad, too.
The hardest part was the shopping.
I hate big-box stores (or pretty much any kind of store except espresso shops), and even though the people at Lowe's were great, it still took a lot out of me—not to mention all the painful associations I had while wandering around—memories of past house repairs and remodeling.
The next mod was adding this curtain. Three hooks later, it was done.
I painted this wall and added some artwork. Not too hard, but I'd rather be watching someone else do it, refilling their coffee cup as needed.
It was kind of like hiking through a big indoor maze of shelves and floor displays. Of course, you who enjoy shopping will probably shake your heads at my lack of direction (and intolerance for bright lights and chemical smells and shelves of stuff I see no purpose for). Turns out I didn't even need the cart.
I added this cool hanging thingy for towels. I'll probably take out the microwave, but right now it serves as a toolbox for all my future mods—screwdriver, hammer, a few nails, a few bandaids, and some duct tape.
